Inside this seemingly pristine preservation of a 1920s Forest Hill Tudor are the results of a down-to-the-studs renovation. From the turret library to the chef’s kitchen to the family room and theater, 360 Castenada Ave. could be yours for $3.3 million.

In the 1990s, when Berkshire Hathaway Realtor Andrew Herrera sold 360 Castenada Ave. to the couple who is selling it now, it was a modest three-bedroom, one-bathroom house, much smaller than it is now. Almost 30 years later, the home has come to market transformed. Herrera is again representing the transaction, this time as the listing agent.

“This is one of the most beautiful remodels of a home I’ve seen in my career,” he told SFGATE.

The home, which is now 3,668 square feet, features four bedrooms and four and a half baths. Its Tudor features have been maintained but complemented in a way that honors the original design while creating a thoroughly unique and modern home.

The kitchen is one such transformation, a gourmet’s dream under the knotty pine beams that cross its coffered ceiling. This kitchen is equipped with a breakfast bar, cherry cabinets featuring pull-out drawers and baker racks, roll-up storage for appliances, a wet bar and a butler’s pantry hidden behind a mirrored facade.

Off this kitchen, the sellers — who raised three children in the home — created a family den/theater with built-in cabinetry, surround sound and a “movie house settee” that features “fold down armrests, reading lights and storage,” according to the official listing page.

While the formal dining room and living room with ocean views are equally impressive, the crown jewel of 360 Castenada is the turret library. Here, circular bookcases rise from the floor toward the cathedral ceiling. The sliding ladder, leaded-glass windows and chandelier add to the charm, as do French doors that lead to its terrace.

The sellers also added a private space for themselves: The primary suite, nestled under a soaring ceiling, features a walk-in closet, an entertainment center, a spa-like bath, and a private balcony overlooking the garden.

The home’s lowest level, complete with game room, home office and wine storage, opens to this garden. The 5,501-square-foot lot has been landscaped to include a patio, barbecue and wood-burning fireplace with built-in seating, lawns, gardens, trees and flowers. There's even an English Tudor-style children's playhouse that offers the perfect mini ode to the main house.
